Obituary of Wallace Hunt

Wallace "Wally" Melvin Hunt died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at his home in Boise at the age of 95. Wally was the oldest child of the two that were born to Merwin W. Hunt and Ethyl Marie Councell in Muncie, Indiana on August 29, 1918. His parents moved to Riverside, California when he was two years of age, seeking a better life. Wally attended schools and graduated from Riverside Junior College when he was only 16 after skipping two grades by hard work and studious ability. He met and married Grace M. Terry when he was 20 years old. In 1942, he entered the U.S. Army thus leaving Grace at home with two small children. In 1943, Wally was sent to the Pacific Theatre where he was assigned to the Signal Corps of the Americal Division of U.S. Army and participated in the invasion and freedom for the people of the island of Cebu in the Philippines. Due to an injury, he was medically discharged and returned to the states in 1945. During the next 10 years, he was blessed with three more children. During that period, he practiced as a Licensed Public Accountant in Southern California. In 1986, while living in Hemet, California, Grace passed away and in 1988 Wally met and married Nancy Jean Footit and moved to Eugene, Oregon. In 2009, Wally and Nancy moved to Boise to be closer to family. His survivors include Caroline Goodbaudy (Jim) of Newberg, Oregon, Carrie Peterman (Tom) of Boise, Dr. Terry Hunt Eugene, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Castle Park Ward, 5900 W. Castle Hill Drive, Boise. There will be a viewing from 1-2 pm on Saturday, 1 hour prior to service time at the church. Private family burial will be at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
