Obituary of Fonnie Grisham

Fonnie Mae Grisham, 88, of Boise, went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2014. She was born on February 4, 1926 in a little white house on the corner of Fairview and Cloverdale. The house is still standing today. Fonnie attended school in Meridian and Boise, and married Robert H. Grisham in Ustick, Idaho on January 9, 1941. One daughter, Ilene, was born to this union. Fonnie kept the home fires burning while her husband was overseas during WWII. She worked several jobs until she was hired by Mountain Bell, where she worked for over 20 years. Fonnie was a member of Whitney Methodist Church, Boise Chapter 65 OES, Daughters of the Nile - Iras Temple #40, Iras Guards, and a lifetime member of the Eagles Auxiliary, Aerie #115, Boise. Fonnie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her daughter, Ilene Stittsworth, Boise, one granddaughter, Jo Ann (Tom) Ledford of Hermiston, Oregon, one sister, Jessie Miller, of Selah, WA, and several nieces and nephews including LeEtta (LV) Birkinbine, Selah, WA, Mike (Jan) Van Houten, Boise, and Vern (Connie) Van Houten, Renton, WA. Fonnie will be laid to rest at the Veterans Cemetery with her husband, Robert, prior to her memorial service. The memorial service will be held at Whitney Methodist Church at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 14, with Fraternal Rites by Iras Temple #40, Daughters of the Nile. The family would like to thank St. Al's Home and Health for their care of Fonnie. Donations may be made to the American Heart or Lung Association in her name.
