Obituary of Leta Schroeder

Leta Mae Wallace Schroeder of Meridian, Idaho passed away peacefully at home into the arms of our Heavenly Father of natural causes on February 19 surrounded by family and friends, at the age of 85. Leta was born in Tyrone, New Mexico on January 6, 1929 to Joseph Franklin Greer and Mamie Berta Porter Greer. She attended school in New Mexico and Texas and graduated from Vale High School in 1946. In 1947 she enrolled in Nampa Business School and began her first job as secretary at Clark Flying Service where she met her husband, Miles Wallace. They were married in 1948 and moved to Mountain Home where they managed the Mountain Home Airport. Later Miles and Leta founded Wallace Plating Company in Garden City, Idaho. The company flourished from 1950 to 1978 under their ownership. Leta was active in the Assistance League of Boise. All who knew and loved Leta marveled at her compassion, grace and her ability to communicate with love. Among her siblings, she was lovingly known as the "peacemaker". She will be missed by many, but we are so thankful for the many years of memories. Leta and Miles were blessed with four children during their 53 years of marriage. They enjoyed golf, RV trips, motorcycle adventures as well as cruises and many family vacations, including a Golden Anniversary vacation to Maui with every member of the family. They were very loving and supportive parents. Her husband, Miles Wallace died in 2001. Leta is survived by two daughters; Charlotte Wallace of Meridian, Patricia Hickey(Jeff) of Boise, and one son, Terry Wallace of Eagle. She leaves behind 5 beautiful grandchildren and 7 beloved great-grandchildren. On March 21, 2006 Leta married Myrl Dexter Schroeder. They spent 7 wonderful years traveling the country and enjoying trips to Hawaii and Canada. Myrl passed away on June 21, 2013. Besides her husband Miles, Leta was preceded in death by her son Robert Wallace, her parents and three siblings, James Franklin Greer, Della Lois Williams, and Robert Winfred Greer. She is survived by a brother, Dr. Donald L. Greer of Slidell, Louisiana and sister, Nina Mary Hopper of Spray, Oregon. The family would like to thank Cinnamon and Janet for their love and extraordinary care. There will be a viewing Friday, February 28 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Summers Funeral Homes at 3629 E. Ustick Road, Meridian. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am at Dry Creek Cemetery on Saturday, March 1. Reception to follow at Summers Funeral Homes at 1:00 pm.
