Obituary of Robert Gilbreth

Robert (Bob) Gilbreth, beloved father, teacher, and friend, died quietly February 17, 2014 in Meridian, Idaho after a short battle with cancer. A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. At Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 Hill Rd., Boise, ID 83703. Services are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel. Bob was born March 1, 1942 in McFarland, CA, the son of Ross and Mary Gilbreth. He attended Bakersfield Elementary Schools, Bakersfield High School, and received his Masters in Physics from Fresno State. Bob married his High School sweetheart, Geri (Pounds) Gilbreth on September 8, 1962 at Presbyterian Church and was happily married for 42 years. Bob and Geri moved to Meridian, Idaho in 2004 after he retired from a rewarding teaching career in Bakersfield. Geri passed away shortly thereafter, but Bob stayed in Idaho to be close to his daughter. He took up ballroom dancing, which became his passion for a number of years. We are thankful for the wonderful people he met dancing around the Treasure Valley. He was very active and became a regular at the swimming pool at the YMCA. Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sonja and Walter Johnson of Boise, Idaho. He is preceded in death by his wife, Geri; brother Ross Gilbreth; and loving mother, Mary Gilbreth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the summer camp program at the Treasure Valley YMCA.
