Obituary of Flora Koskella

Flora Koskella was born January 27, 1914 to Serafin and Anacleta Lopez De Vinaspre in Meridian, Idaho. She passed away January 21, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, 3629 Ustick Rd, Meridian, Idaho, with a reception to follow. Graveside services will conclude at 1:30 pm, Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Finnish Cemetery in McCall, Idaho. Flora attended Meridian High School and the College of Idaho where she graduated Magnum Cum Laude' in 1936. She taught French and Spanish at Donnelly High School. In Donnelly, she met Matt Koskella, a good looking rancher. After marrying Matt, they lived on the Koskella Homestead Ranch. She was the ranch bookkeeper while the men took care of the land and cattle. She warmly welcomed all visitors with coffee and homemade cake and a meal if they came at mealtime. Flora and Matt had two daughters, Kathleen Koskella and Anita Williams Babineau. Anita's immediate family are Shawn and Bob Langley (Margaret and Elizabeth); Denise (Bill) Moxley (Jared); Jeff Williams; Theresa (Raymond and Flora Kay); Matt and Karina (Christopher, Michael, Emily and Jessica) Williams; and Tony and Anita Williams. Flora had happy memories of the people she knew through her many community activities including both McCall and Cascade Senior Centers, Arlene Grange, Garden Club, Valley County Fair Board, 4-H programs, school election boards, and many others. Flora was a "unique" person. She was extremely intelligent with a fantastic memory. She loved games, cards, travel, and people. She lived for the past 14 years at Valley View Retirement Community where she made many new friends.
