Obituary of Marvin Crosser

Marvin D. H. Crosser was born in Bozeman, Montana on October 28, 1916. His parents and grandparents were true Western Settlers, coming by wagon train from the East and settling in Montana. He had a paper route and sold newspapers in downtown Billings at 6 years of age. As he got older, he told stories of driving an old Model T around town. Marvin graduated from high school at Billings High in 1934. He began working at his family's meat packing company in Billings. He married Dorothy Lindsay on October 4, 1936. They were married 73 years before her passing in July 2010. In 1943 they moved to sunny California where Marvin took a job at Marchant Calculators as a machinist, working there for 20 years. Next, he worked at Filper Corporation for 14 years and then another 11 years at EG&G before retiring at 73 years of age. After retiring, he and Dorothy moved to Boise, Idaho in 1990. Marvin was a talented photographer. He toted a camera just about everywhere he went. He joined photography clubs and worked for several studios as a secondary job. He had a great love for his friends and members of the Masonic Organizations. His first high office was in DeMolay while living in Montana. He joined Fellowship Lodge in California and helped with beginning a new daytime Eastern Star Lodge in Lafayette, California. He belonged to Blue Lodge, York Rite Bodies, El Korah Shrine, Amaranth, White Shrine, and various satellite clubs. He traveled extensively across the United States and abroad attending Masonic conventions and group cruise tours. He is a 33rd Degree Mason. He also belonged to the Kiwanis Club. Marvin will be dearly missed by his children, Susan Beasley (Delbert); Mardo Barth (Mel); and Pat Crosser (daughter-in-law); grandchildren, David Crosser (Brittany); Michael Barth (Jennifer); Richard Crosser (Rhonda); and Michelle Barth; brother, Garry Crosser (Ethel); brothers-in-law, Wilbur Lindsay and Boris Minzyk; numerous nephews and nieces; and great grandchildren, Lindsay, Gideon, Stella, and Claire Barth; Reagan and Ryan Crosser; and Mia Barth. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Fay and Edith Haskins Crosser Rich; his wife, Dorothy Crosser; son, Ronald Crosser; sister, Shirley Nigaard; brother, Dale Haskins; and sisters-in-law, Kay Minzyk and Robinita Lindsay. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4601 S Surprise Way, Boise, Idaho. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Fairfax Rd at Virginia St, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103.
