Obituary of Mary Truxal

Mary Louise "Mary Lou" Coan Truxal, 88, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013, at Saint Luke's Hospital, Boise, ID, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 7, 1925, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Vincent and Elvira Coan. She attended Catholic schools in Denver and later earned her nursing degree. While working at Mercy Hospital in Denver she met Albert C. Truxal, MD. They were married July 6, 1946, at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, Rexburg, Idaho. A dedicated and loving wife, Mary Lou, raised and nurtured a family of eight children. She was a wonderful mom. Mary Lou left behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. In the community she was active in Cub Scouts, VFW Women's Auxiliary, Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary, and the Idaho Medical Association. Mary Lou was active in her Catholic faith, serving as president of the Catholic Women's League of Idaho. She was a noted writer of liturgy for many years, teaching communities about her faith. Mary Lou was an avid bridge player. She later discovered a love for painting porcelain china, often sharing her talents with family and friends. Mary Lou loved her dogs who were her beloved companions throughout the years. Mary Lou is survived by her sister, Katherine Duval; three sons, Bert, Paul (Kenya), Bruce (Karen); and four daughters, Joan Truxal (Cam Daggett), Barbara Tomasini, Linda Truxal, and Patricia Olsen (Alan Olsen) and by 17 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, John; her husband, Albert C. Truxal, M.D.; and her daughter, Jeanne. Rosary was recited Sunday, December 29, 2013, at Summers Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, December 30, 2013 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, Boise, Idaho. Burial will be at the Rexburg Cemetery in Rexburg, Idaho, at 1 pm on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to a favorite charity.
