Obituary of Julia Anne Seibert

Julia Anne Seibert, 94, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2018.

She started this life on February 7, 1924 in Parma, Idaho.  Julia and her parents, Frank and Ostella Brown, soon moved to Wilder, Idaho where her father farmed.  Julia attended school in Wilder through her high school years with many of the same students, creating many lifelong friends.  Julia used to speak fondly of all of the picnics that were held at the farm in Wilder while growing up, which included large groups of family and friends.

After high school she attended BSU however back then it was still BJC.  Julia would laugh as she told the story of how she attended BSU through the three name changes.

Even though she furthered her education in Boise, there still were large picnics at the farm in Wilder on the weekends. The picnics continued on the weekends before and during WWII.  At one of the picnics she met a young soldier that had been stationed in Wilder by the name of Joseph Seibert. They later married on October 5, 1945.  When Joe returned from the war, it was decided to return to Chicago where he was originally from.  While in Chicago Julia continued with her music, which had been such an important and large part of her life.  She continued on with her voice lessons and had started with the Chicago Opera Company. The stay in Chicago was brief and Joe and Julia made the decision to return to Idaho.  They moved to Moscow so Joe could attend the University of Idaho.  Julia continued her education and started her teaching career while in Moscow.  After Joe graduated from the University they decided to move to Boise. Julia continued her education in Boise and eventually graduated from the College of Idaho.

Julia had started her teaching career while in Moscow and continued after returning to Boise.  She taught at several of the elementary schools in Boise and the last school was Mountain View Elementary. Her career lasted for 44 years before retiring in 1987.

During her many years she was also a member of Daughters of the Nile Temple #40.  She loved singing with the choir and the many friends that she made during her affiliation with Daughters of the Nile.  Julia also belonged to Retired Educators Association and her sorority ADK.  All of these organizations were so very important to her through out the years and especially after her husband Joe died in 1994.

Julia is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Kirby, son-in-law Bill Kirby, and a granddaughter Sara Kirby.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to BrightStar Home Care and Doctor’s Hospice of Idaho for their exceptional care and consideration of Julia during the last part of her life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
