I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Ascuena's passing, and sad that I didn't find out about it until today. I would have loved to be there to celebrate his life back in June. Mr. Ascuena was an amazing influence in my life during a very impressionable time. He was a father-figure and taught me what it meant to be a man and to follow through on my commitments. I still think of him often and the honorable lessons he taught me. He was a great man.

I graduated from Centennial High in 1998 and had the fortune to be coached by Ron, Mr. Ascuena, in cross country and track. Ron was a great coach, he knew how to inspire, how to be funny, and how to push. I remember how supportive he was. I was a late-comer to distance running, but Ron was incredibly supportive. Ms. Currie, Cindy, I'm sorry for your loss, my sympathies and I hope you are doing well. Thanks to you and Ron for being such incredible teachers.

hi Cindy! We are so sorry to hear of Ron's passing... Especially the way it happened. He was very lucky to have you! I know it was probably harder on you than it was on him. We just went through the same thing a little over a year ago with Travis's stepdad and it is something no one should have to go through.

Cindy, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I didn't know Ron well but every time I saw him he was so kind to me. And his love for you just... I don't know, the only word I can think of is "radiated" from him. I am sending love to you and your family and praying for you during this time. I am grateful for the example of love between you two and will, with all honesty, remember it always. What an incredible person he was.

I was his biggest fan from the time he left lilacs at my door in 1969 saying from your secret admirer. Lilacs appeared for 46 years and brought us our daughter and granddaughters.
