To the family of SSG David Diehl -
My wife, Linda and I send our heartfelt condolences with the loss of your husband, father and son. Additionally, Patriot Guard Riders statewide and nationwide mourn with you.
It is obvious that this young man was an example of good to those he came in contact with.
If requested, the Patriot Guard Riders would be honored to have the opportunity to participate in his services, and render the respect due him and your family........
To little Sydney - Know that your father continues to watch over you. He is gone, but for a season. You shall see him again. In time, there will be some sense made of this. You are the daughter of an American hero.
Respecfully and with heavy heart -
Shane Leiser

Words cannot describe how much David will be missed by so many on so many levels.
I remember visiting when David was about 10 and he couldn't wait to show me a how well he played a 'shoot 'em up' computer game. James, being littler, sat beside me on the couch while David played and BOTH of them were saying, "Got 'em!!!" James told me how good David was playing this particular game and I later mentioned to my sister, Dawn, "I think you have a soldier in the making" to which she replied, "I know."
The fact of the matter is that David DID become an outstanding soldier and there was always the risk of losing him in either one of his two tours in Irag. The fact he didn't and was given more time with his loved ones on his own soil is simply and incredible blessing. Additional great memories and laughs were to be had before he went home and remembering them will always be a source of comfort to everyone he loved and loved him.
We delight in David's 'rebirth' into his heavenly home and are so blessed by the love and prayers of all.
With Much Love,
Shawna Newton
